I Hope This Doesn't Happen to You
Here I am, writing from my soapbox about something very important.  Forgive me for deviating from my regular writings.

I personally CANNOT stand drug use, especially those substances touted as "recreational."

(Does anybody actually KNOW what RECREATIONAL means?  According to the Encarta Dictionary, RECREATIONAL means "The refreshment of the mind and body after work, especially by engaging in enjoyable activities.")  I am sorry, but blasting yourself with pot, crack, heroin...this is not recreational.  This is POISONING your body and your mind.

I just moved into a new apartment last week.  It is a very nice complex, with well-maintained grounds and nice amenities.  It is in a nice part of town.  A little on the pricey side, but definitely fair considering the environment.

Anyways, I was walking to my car this morning, and what do I smell?  Pot.  Pot at 8 in the morning.

Wake up, light up a joint.  It's gross.

Which reminds me of a dear friend.  She was in very bad shape as a heavy drug addict- cocaine, heroin, LSD, you name it.  Very close to overdose more than once.  She was GONE.  A total wreck.  On her last threads as a person.  She was the only child of upper middle class parents.  Dad is a podiatrist, mom is the all-around philanthropist, community-involved type.  They were losing their only child to drugs.  In a last attempt to help her, they got Erica off drugs through the Narconon program.  She has been clean ever since, almost 20 years now.  And she is a very good friend of mine.

There are solutions to drug use.  And if you are waking up at 8 in the morning to get high...I'm sorry, you need help.  This isn't recreation.  It's poison.  Get help.  And, by the way, you don't need drugs to get off drugs.  You need a non-drug program such as Narconon.

Answers are out there.  Look for them.  Whether this is for you, your mate, your child, you parents.  There are answers.  Something can be done about it.
